Here’s how to create blackboard drawers, very easily, very quickly and very cheaply with Vintage Rocks Liquid Kohl in Blackout.
Make a useful and funky set of drawers for a child’s bedroom or playroom.
The Vintage Rocks Liquid Kohl in Blackout creates the perfect surface to write on with chalk so you can label and re-label the drawers to your heart’s content, helping your little one to keep their space tidy … well that’s the theory anyway!
how to create blackboard drawers
1. Source a set of drawers or use a piece you already have in your home
I found this set on a Facebook selling group. I love the way it’s narrow and tall so saves space but has loads of storage.
2. Paint with Vintage Rocks Liquid Kohl in Blackout
After giving the drawers a thorough wipe over with a baby wipe, I shook the Liquid Kohl tin and popped it open Took a small Vintage Rocks Smoothing Brush and started painting.
3. Leave to dry for 30 minutes (give or take, depending on conditions)
I only needed to apply one coat and the paint dried really quickly. In fact, as I had the heating on, it only took 15 minutes to become touch dry. Once dry, I checked for any little bits I had missed and patched those in. (See top drawer!)
4. Grab some chalk and label the drawers
I wanted to use these drawers in my son’s room to help him organise his clothes. So I wrote clothing categories on the drawer fronts and will use the side of the unit as a notice board to jot down reminders like “Don’t forget PE Kit!”
P.S. The blue feature wall is painted in Vintage Rocks Lagoon with a few drops of Liquid Kohl Blackout added
Here’s the finished piece …
